Sasaram: An FIR was lodged against a policeman at Dehri-on-Sone police station in Rohtas district on Monday, alleging misuse of authority, criminal intimidation, abuse and forcible theft of an LPG cylinder from an authorised distributor. SHO Dehri-on-Sone Shivendra Kumar confirmed the FIR, saying that an investigation was underway in the matter.According to the written complaint submitted by Uday Shankar, a partner at an authorised LPG distributor of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), the accused, Arun Kumar Singh, is both a registered consumer of the agency and a serving member of the Bihar Police. The complaint stated that on March 21, 2026, Singh visited the distributor’s office and demanded an LPG cylinder directly from the godown. When the staff informed him that, as per govt and company regulations, cylinders can only be delivered to consumers’ homes against prior booking, he allegedly became aggressive and verbally abused the staff.Later the same day, around 5pm, Singh allegedly intercepted a delivery vehicle in the Tarbangla area of Dehri-on-Sone and forcibly took an LPG cylinder without authorisation. When the delivery personnel demanded the govt-fixed price of Rs 1013, the accused allegedly refused to pay and threatened them, claiming that no action could be taken against him.The complaint further alleges that Singh used his position in the police force to intimidate the delivery staff and even issued a death threat when they insisted on payment, creating an atmosphere of fear. The distributor has termed the incident a clear case of misuse of official power, theft, criminal intimidation and obstruction of lawful business operations. A formal request has been made to the police to register an FIR, initiate an immediate investigation and take strict legal action against the accused.Copies of the complaint have also been sent to senior district officials, including the DM, SP and IOCL officials.
