Lucknow: Kushinagar police have registered an FIR against 17 named persons and more than 100 unidentified people on a complaint lodged by the principal of a school in connection with violence and vandalism following the death of a 12-year-old student in a clash between two groups of students at Chakbandi crossing in Kaptanganj on Aug 14.The FIR was lodged against the accused on the complaint of Ashutosh Kumar Saini, principal of Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir Kanya Inter College. Police said the case relates to rioting and vandalism at the school after the student clash.The incident took place on Aug 14 afternoon following an earlier dispute between two groups of students over drinking water at the school. The dispute had occurred two days before the fatal clash and reportedly led to resentment between the groups.The two groups later clashed at Chakbandi crossing. Karan Sahani (12), son of Ram Bhawan Sahani and a resident of Harihar Nath South Ward No. 16, suffered serious head injuries during the assault. He was undergoing treatment when he died of his injuries. Following the incident, a group of people allegedly reached the school and vandalised its premises, accusing the school authorities of sheltering or hiding the accused involved in the assault.Karan’s mother Rambhawati Devi had earlier lodged an FIR against five persons in connection with her son’s death. Police subsequently arrested Ranjit Yadav and Amarendra Yadav alias Sonu Yadav, residents of Ranipar alias Haraiya in Mathauli, on the night of Aug 17 and sent them to jail.In the latest case, police have named Raj Sahani, Mohan Kushwaha, Pintu Sahani, Rahul alias Gobari, Kishan, Omkar, Abhishek, Ramesh, Gulshan Sahani, Satyam, Gulshan, Ramchandra, Neeraj, Indu Devi, Prince, Prince Gaur, and Rahul, besides more than 100 unidentified persons.Kaptanganj SHO Dhirendra Kumar Rai said the FIR was registered on the principal’s complaint. Police teams are conducting raids to trace the accused, while CCTV footage from cameras installed in the surrounding area is being examined to identify the unidentified persons involved in the vandalism and violence.
