Kanpur: Swaroop Nagar police on Saturday registered an FIR against six unidentified persons after a viral video showed a 29-year-old man being brutally assaulted, leaving him in critical condition.The victim, Sanjay Kumar, said in his police complaint that on June 18 he was returning home when he was confronted by six people at around 10.30 pm on Ashok Nagar Road.He said the accused thrashed him severely and fled the scene after he lost consciousness.The entire event was recorded by nearby CCTV cameras. In response to the video’s circulation, the police filed a case against the assailants and commenced a search for them.Station in-charge Devendra Singh said the attack stemmed from a previous rivalry, and efforts are underway to trace the suspects using CCTV footage.
