Hyderabad: The city witnessed large-scale participation and vibrant celebrations on Thursday as thousands of devotees joined Hanuman Jayanti processions, blending religious fervour with cultural spectacle. Streets were filled with chants and devotional music, while tableaux added colour to the festivities. Local residents set up roadside stalls offering buttermilk, water and food to participants along the routes.The main procession began at Gowliguda Ram Mandir and covered nearly 12 km before culminating at the Tadbund Hanuman Temple in Secunderabad. Children dressed as Lord Hanuman drew significant attention, adding to the festive atmosphere. However, traffic movement was affected in several areas due to diversions and road closures.City police commissioner VC Sajjanar said elaborate security arrangements were put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. He flagged off the procession after participating in a Hanuman Yagna at Gowliguda. The route covered key locations including Koti, Narayanguda, RTC Cross Roads, Ashok Nagar and Paradise junction before reaching the final destination. Coordination between the Hyderabad and Malkajgiri police commissionerates was maintained throughout.Organised under the banner of Bajrang Dal, the ‘Veera Hanuman Vijaya Yatra’ also featured a large bike rally with significant youth participation. A public meeting was held at Koti, where religious leaders and organisers addressed the gathering following a mass recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa.Speakers highlighted increasing youth participation in religious activities and called for unity and continued engagement in cultural celebrations. Concerns over social issues such as drug abuse were also raised, with organisers expressing intent to campaign against such challenges.Authorities deployed around 3,000 police personnel across the city to manage nearly 168 rallies and processions. Despite the scale, officials reported no major law-and-order incidents, and the celebrations concluded peacefully with special prayers at the Tadbund temple.
