Madikeri: Fertilisers will be distributed in a phased manner based on the allotment by the Union govt to the state. Announcing this, Kodagu district joint director of agriculture Chandrashekar said the state govt has made the Farmer ID (FID) mandatory to buy fertilisers. The rule of obtaining FID to avail any benefit, including credit facilities related to agriculture, and exemptions from govt facilities, was in force earlier. But it was not considered seriously till now. Now, it has been made mandatory, especially to buy urea, because there may be a problem in importing fertiliser raw materials due to the war in West Asia, he stated. In addition, the FID rule has been made mandatory to prevent urea from being sold in the black market as urea is used in industries, including leather, sugar and others. The state govt’s agriculture department has issued strict instructions on FID in this regard. Fertilisers will be distributed through K-Kisan technology to curb black market, he stated.Farmers, whether they already have an FID or not, should visit the nearest farmer-contact centre and horticulture department with documents, including Aadhaar. If they have an FID, they should link all the survey numbers to the FID. If they do not have an FID, they should create a new one, he stated. The officer warned that if the sellers sell the agri input at a price higher than the maximum selling price, the licence will be suspended or cancelled.
