Continuing their cross-cultural partnership with Moscow Fashion Week, FDCI × Moscow Fashion Week presented Russian designer Sergey Sysoev at Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI. The collection featured crinkled ensembles and unfinished prints, drawing inspiration from abandoned estates and 19th-century paintings, the designer shared at a post-show conference. An established name in Russian fashion for over three decades, Sysoev brought sophisticated silhouettes, tailoring, knitwear, decorative techniques and distinctive textile treatments to the runway. The collection drew inspiration from traditional crafts, folk art, architecture, history and decorative traditions. “It is a visual testament to the passage of time, and that is why we had unfinished clothes. There is no future without the past and no past without the future. I collaborated with Russian artisans for the collection, and it showcased native Russian crafts and textiles. These prints are like the wallpapers in old houses,” said Sergey.Talking about the ongoing partnership with Moscow Fashion Week, Sunil Sethi, Chairman, FDCI, said, “We are proud of this partnership. Just a few weeks ago, one of our designers, Kanika Goyal, showcased at MFW, and it was a houseful. The thing is, this kind of association with Russia is fantastic, and we hope to sustain it.”“I am very happy to be here. The designers who showcased before me loved being here, so I am grateful to have showcased here,” added the designer.
