Nagpur: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) suspended the licences of three restaurants after they failed to comply with the rules of the Food Safety and Standards Act. Action was taken against three hotels in Hazari Pahad, Katol Road and Kalmeshwar Road area.During the inspection, the FDA team found infestation of flies in the kitchen and other places, absence of a drinking water analysis report, unavailability of pest control records, and irregular cleaning of cold cabinet and deep freezer. The team also found that the vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items were stored together, while food-handling staff were not wearing caps and aprons.The restaurants were also found guilty of not displaying the registration certificate in a prominent place. The licences of three establishments were suspended from July 12 until the deficiencies are rectified.This action was carried out by food safety officers KR Gedam, AY Sontakke and KS Sonawane under the guidance of joint commissioner Sachin Kedare and assistant commissioner A S Sadar.
