Nagpur: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against a West Bengal firm and unidentified officials of South Eastern Central Railway (SECR) for criminal conspiracy and misappropriation of high-grade coal worth more than 29 lakh from Dumri Khurd Railway Siding in Nagpur district.According to the FIR, the firm, through its owner Amit Maity, was engaged in cleaning open-top freight coach wagons, tracks and handling operations at Dumri Khurd (DKSK) siding leased by Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) from SECR.The company was authorised only to remove rejected and waste coal but allegedly collected and sold good-quality (G-12 grade) coal in connivance with unidentified railway officials.A joint surprise check conducted by the vigilance department, head office, Nagpur, on May 21 this year found the firm actively collecting and stacking coal at the railway premises. As much as 1,427 MT of coal was found accumulated at the site. Samples were sent to the Central Institute of Mining & Fuel Research (CIMFR) laboratory, Nagpur. The lab report confirmed the presence of G-12 grade coal in the sample.The firm, in collusion with unidentified railway employees, issued 18 gate passes on March 21 and March 24, using which it lifted and sold 720 MT of G-12 grade coal from the premises on pretext of lifting rejected material.
