Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday directed officials to expedite Hyderabad Metro rail works in the Old City under Phase-2 of the project and initiate the tender process for works on this corridor at the earliest.With regard to the 7.5 km corridor from MGBS to Chandrayangutta under phase-2 of the project, Revanth instructed the officials to consult Delhi Metro for assistance on the appropriate technology to be adopted.The CM held a review meeting with officials of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) on works in the Old City. He directed the officials concerned to complete road-widening works along the 7.5 km stretch from Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) to Chandrayangutta at a fast pace and initiate the tender process for the Metro works on this corridor.The CM enquired with the officials about the pending land acquisition and instructed them to finalise the Metro rail expansion plans immediately. Stating that the ridership was steadily increasing on the Hyderabad Metro system, he emphasised appropriate measures to handle the passenger load, including adding additional coaches to the trains. The officials were told to procure the required additional Metro coaches.During the meeting, the CM also reviewed the preliminary arrangements being made for the ensuing ‘Invest Telangana Global Summit’ scheduled to be held in Dec. Necessary steps for organisational arrangements for the event and the formulation of a plan to honour prominent persons from various business sectors during the summit were also discussed at the meeting.Revanth stressed the need to ensure that the summit be organised to international standards, specifically to woo global investments to Telangana. The officials were ordered to submit a detailed report on the investments attracted and the progress made following the summit held last year. He instructed the officials to prepare plans to achieve further progress in attracting investments.
