Nagpur: The Nagpur bench of the Bombay high court on Wednesday directed the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to operationalise its proposed e-Court Case Management System (e-CMS) within the stipulated timeframe and asked whether the platform would be capable of providing updated information on all pending court compliance matters by Aug 10.A division bench comprising Justices Anil Pansare and Rajnish Vyas issued the directives while reviewing compliance in writ petitions filed in 2005 and 2016. Although the original petitions have already been disposed of, the court continues to monitor implementation of its directions. The matter has been posted for further hearing on Aug 12.In an affidavit filed on July 10, the municipal commissioner informed that judicial matters are currently managed through a manual record-keeping system, making it difficult to retrieve records, provide timely information and monitor compliance with court orders.NMC said it is developing an e-Court Case Management System through its Information Technology Department. The platform is currently undergoing testing and is expected to be commissioned within a month. As per the affidavit, the digital platform will maintain a centralised repository of all pending and disposed court cases involving the civic body. It will enable real-time monitoring of the next hearing date, case status, compliance with judicial orders, filing of affidavits and appeals, and responsibilities assigned to different municipal departments.NMC also informed the bench that it has introduced a separate online mechanism to monitor action against unauthorised constructions. Regular reports will be obtained from all zonal offices, and the list of illegal structures against which action is underway will be published on the NMC website.#Key TakeawaysHC directs NMC to operationalise its e-Court Case Management System on scheduleAsks whether the platform can provide updated compliance data by Aug 10System will maintain a centralised digital database of all court cases involving NMCPlatform will enable real-time monitoring of court orders, affidavits, appeals and departmental responsibilitiesSeparate online system introduced to track action against unauthorised constructions
