BATHINDA: In a major breakthrough, Faridkot Police has busted a cross-border heroin smuggling network and recovered 47.3kg of heroin, three pistols, three magazines, 15 cartridges and two vehicles after apprehending four operatives.Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused are linked to a network involved in the cross-border smuggling of heroin and illegal arms into Punjab.An FIR has been registered at Sadiq police station in Faridkot district. Further investigation is underway to uncover the wider network and establish its forward and backward linkages.Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the Punjab Police continues to maintain strict vigil against cross-border smuggling and take decisive action to dismantle drug trafficking and organised criminal networks.Earlier, 12.2kg of heroin, 10 pistols and two hand grenades were recovered in three separate incidents in Faridkot district over the past 10 days, said SSP Gurbans Singh Bains.
