GURGAON: A 15-year-old boy was killed and two of his three friends were critically injured after their SUV plunged almost 50ft into a gorge in Faridabad’s Sirohi village on Tuesday. While sources claimed the accident happened because they were filming a stunt video on a rocky terrain in the Aravali hills, police spokesperson Yashpal Yadav said the victims were speeding and lost control of the vehicle.Vedang Babu alias Sohan (15), a Class 9 student, was declared dead at Al-Falah Medical College and Hospital. Originally from Siwan district in Bihar, his current residence was Karnera village of Ballabgarh. The critically injured included the driver, Vikas Kumar (21), and Himmat. The duo underwent treatment at the same hospital on Tuesday and were said to be stable. “Both Vikas and Himmat took voluntary discharge from the hospital on Wednesday and now they will undergo treatment in Delhi. They are out of danger,” an investigator said. A fourth companion, Vikram, sustained minor injuries. Police have booked Vikas under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (death due to negligence) of the BNS.The accident occurred around 2.30pm when the four friends drove their Thar off the main road and onto a rough trail. Sources claimed the group were making reels on the edge of the gorge when the car rolled into it, shattering on impact.Locals passing through the trail witnessed the vehicle fall and alerted police and villagers. Several villagers rushed to the spot, climbed down into the gorge, and pulled out the injured youths before police arrived. The three seriously injured were taken to Al-Falah Medical College, where doctors declared Sohan dead. Police shifted his body to the mortuary of BK Hospital for a post-mortem examination and informed the family. Police and local authorities remained at the site until late evening, using a crane to retrieve the mangled vehicle from the gorge.An officer said the SUV, which is registered in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh, was brought to Faridabad about a month ago by Vikas’s family. Vikas is self-employed while Sohan’s father works in a private company, he said.Sirohi village, nestled in the Aravalli hills along Ballabgarh-Sohna Road, is known for its rocky terrain. There are some small lakes in the area. One such waterbody, Panikot Lake, also called Sirohi Lake, draws visitors from Delhi-NCR for photography and short trips, earning the area the nickname “Mini Ladakh.”
