Gandhinagar: Families of 115 employees of Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC), including drivers and conductors, who died while on duty during the Covid-19 pandemic, will receive financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh each, the govt announced on Tuesday.Deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi said that GSRTC played a vital role in safely transporting migrant workers and labourers living in Gujarat back to their hometowns during the pandemic. The corporation undertook 22,953 trips across three states and helped 6.99 lakh passengers reach their native places, he added.A total of 115 GSRTC employees who lost their lives to Covid-19 while performing their duties, include 39 drivers, 31 conductors, 29 administrative staff members, and 16 mechanics. The amount will be distributed at an event in Gandhinagar on Wednesday.
