Ahmedabad: A one-year-old boy was killed after a speeding car ran him over inside the Government Polytechnic campus in Sector 26 on Monday afternoon.The victim, Lavyansh Amliyar, was the son of Urvish Amliyar, a mason from Simaliya Khurd village in Dahod district. Urvish and his wife, Laxmi, were engaged in construction work on an under-construction building inside the campus through a contractor when the accident occurred.According to the police complaint, Lavyansh was playing with other children near the LRUC building around 2.30pm while his parents were working nearby. A car allegedly sped along a campus road and struck the toddler.The impact caused severe head and body injuries, leaving the child unconscious on the spot. Co-workers and relatives rushed him to Civil Hospital in Sector 23 in a private vehicle. As his condition remained critical, doctors referred him to a private hospital in Ahmedabad, where he died during treatment later in the evening.The death left the family and fellow labourers devastated, as the child’s father witnessed the accident from the construction site.Based on a complaint filed by Urvish, Sector 21 police registered an FIR against the driver for causing death by negligent driving. The accused driver fled after the accident.
