Hazaribag: A police team recovered a large quantity of counterfeit urea solution from Harhad village under Mufassil police station limits of the district late on Friday. The seized products were found to be carrying the labels of two prominent companies.Police said the products were being manufactured and sold using the brand names of two companies, and a raid was carried out at Harhad based on a specific input.Roshan Kumar Burnwal, officer-in-charge of Mufassil police station, on Saturday said, “We received a complaint from one Sunny Ghosh, investigation officer of the company, based on which a raid was conducted in Harhad, leading to the seizure of fake materials.”“During the raid, police recovered 10 bottles of fake DEF (diesel exhaust fluid), 20-litre sealed buckets, 51 empty buckets, 174 lids, 21 handles, and 76 hologram stickers. In addition, 11 containers filled with fake DEF of another company, 262 empty buckets, and 90 lids were also seized,” he said.Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were selling counterfeit urea in the market by passing it off as genuine products. DEF, a urea-based solution used in diesel vehicles equipped with selective catalytic reduction systems, helps reduce harmful emissions. An FIR was registered against Tausar Alam and another unnamed accused. “Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend other culprits,” he said.
