Mumbai: The city crime branch’s unit 3 has arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly duping people by promising them govt jobs after posing as a deputy commissioner-level officer posted at Mantralya.Police said Altaf Hassan Shaikh (45), who was nabbed with the help of the crime intelligence unit in Malad East, moved around with an unauthorised beacon on his car.A search of his car yielded an identity card, visiting cards purportedly linked to various govt agencies, appointment and authorisation letters, letterheads of govt departments, stickers bearing the national emblem and the words ‘Govt of India’, along with several other forged documents purportedly connected to govt offices.DCP (crime) Raj Tilak Roshan said Shaikh had studied till Class 10, had knowledge of how govt departments work and preyed on those desperate for help.
