Nagpur: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday met student representatives from across Maharashtra in Mumbai over their demands concerning Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) and promised a series of investigations and reforms.They included an SIT probe into examination-related complaints and a dedicated grievance redressal cell headed by a retired judge.CM said the probe into the alleged leak of the Drug Inspector examination paper was still underway and would be taken to its “last stage”. “We are interested in improving the system, not hiding anything,” he told the students.Fadnavis said a new committee headed by GAD additional chief secretary V Radha would undertake a comprehensive review of the examination system. The committee would travel across the state and consult students, parents, teachers and other stakeholders. He urged students to place their grievances and suggestions before it openly.Govt would also investigate MPSC 2025 Group B and Group C preliminary and main examinations, he said. Other examinations facing complaints would be reviewed, with interviews in such cases to be kept on hold until the complaints were examined.Fadnavis said an SIT mechanism would be established to investigate other student complaints and a preliminary report of the Crime Branch investigation would be made public.He also announced an SIT inquiry into all examinations conducted during the tenures of the accused in MPSC paper leak and irregularities cases. The recommendations of Rajurkar committee would be examined and those found appropriate would be implemented, he said.CM said govt would recommend that MPSC provide answer sheets under Right to Information (RTI) framework. Guidelines for interviews would also be framed and communicated to the new committee.Examinations conducted by Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority and Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority would also be subjected to a detailed inquiry, with action against those found responsible, Fadnavis said.On demands concerning MPSC chairman and secretary, he said govt was prepared to order an independent inquiry if evidence was submitted against either of them. “Whoever is guilty will face action. There is no question of protecting anyone,” he said.He said govt would begin the promised process within eight days and pursue it within a time-bound framework.Fadnavis also said upcoming examinations would be postponed where necessary to make them “foolproof”. “With an unusually large number of recruitments being undertaken for the first time, the examination process would be held only after the entire machinery was ready,” he said, adding that transparency would be the principal criterion.On police recruitment, Fadnavis said candidates would be allowed to use chips on both legs or another suitable option, while a uniform marks pattern would be followed for police recruitment across districts.He also assured students that their concerns relating to SARTHI, BARTI and MAHAJYOTI would be addressed.A dedicated grievance redressal cell would be established within MPSC, with a retired judge appointed for the purpose, Fadnavis said.
