Palanpur: The Food and Drugs Control Administration (FDCA), Palanpur, busted a unit manufacturing duplicate ghee in Mahi village of Vadgam taluka and seized 1,513 kg of ghee and adulterants total worth Rs 3.67 lakh. The raid was carried out at Khushbu Enterprise by designated officer T H Patel and food safety officer E S Patel.During the inspection on Feb 9, it was found that the unit’s owner Alamdarali Abbas Ali Sunsara was manufacturing and selling duplicate ghee and he had no licence or approval, FDCA said in an official statement on Wednesday.Officials said the unit was producing ghee on a large scale using colour, essence, soybean oil, palmolein oil and vanaspati. The team recovered ghee packed in one-litre containers along with loose ghee. A large quantity of adulterants such as refined soybean oil, palmolein oil, vanaspati, vegetable fat, beta carotene colour and artificial flavour substances was also seized.Investigators revealed that the unit was manufacturing cow and buffalo ghee under the ‘Jainam’ brand and selling it in various states.Officials collected eight samples of ghee and adulterants, which will be sent to a government food laboratory for testing.
