Hyderabad: The CAG report has pointed to serious lapses in examination management at Osmania University, warning of potential malpractice after a large number of answer booklets went unaccounted for.According to the report, around 1.5 lakh answer booklets, valued at ₹10.60 lakh, were not properly recorded in stock. Scrutiny of the stock register for 32-page answer booklets in the office of the controller of examinations showed that entries were incomplete and did not capture all receipts from suppliers. “Non-accountal of answer booklets received from the supplier is fraught with the risk of misutilisation during the academic examinations conducted by the university,” the report said. It also noted that records of unused answer booklets returned by colleges and examination centres were not properly maintained. A senior university official said extra answer booklets are usually sent to exam centres to meet last minute demand from students. “These extra scripts are supposed to be returned after the examinations. However, in some cases, they are not. These buffer sheets can sometimes be misused, as they may facilitate malpractice during supplementary examinations,” the official added.
