Udupi: A woman was killed after being knocked down and run over by a city bus near Lions Circle in Badagabettu village on Saturday. The deceased is Udupi City Municipal Council ( CMC) former vice-president Lakshmi Kola,38.According to police, the accident occurred around 1.15pm on the Udupi–Kinnimulki road. The driver of the city bus was allegedly driving rashly and negligently from Mission Compound towards Udupi, when the vehicle hit Lakshmi as she was crossing the road. Lakshmi fell onto the road following the impact, and the bus’s left rear wheel ran over her head. She was immediately taken to the Udupi District Government Hospital, where a doctor examined her and declared her dead. Udupi Traffic police registered a case under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the BNS .
