Mohsin Raza with chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday

Lucknow: Former minister Mohsin Raza on Sunday met chief minister Yogi Adityanath and expressed concern over large-scale irregularities allegedly prevalent in Waqf boards. He said that currently only 1,27,000 registered Waqf properties were there, while earlier this number was over 2 lakh. He said that under past govts, no proper audit of the Waqf Board was conducted.Welcoming the Waqf Amendment Act 2025 passed by the central govt, Raza stressed that time has come for a prompt and impartial inquiry to ascertain the actual status of waqf properties. He demanded that all waqf properties of both the Shia and Sunni Waqf Boards should be carried out district wise by forming an SIT.Strict and swift legal action should be taken against properties where tampering, fake mutation, illegal lease, or change of possession was found, he said.
