Lucknow: The owner of the building in Aliganj where a fire claimed 15 lives last month has begun demolishing the structure after the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) declared it illegal and ordered its removal.The LDA issued a notice under Section 27(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning and Development Act on June 23, directing the owners to submit documents within 15 days to prove the construction was lawful.The owners filed objections on July 8. After reviewing the objections and a reply from Enforcement Zone-4, the prescribed authority on July 10 declared the building illegal and ordered the owners to demolish it within 15 days.Demolition work started on Monday.Enforcement Zone-4 zonal officer Madhavesh Kumar inspected the site and instructed the owners to ensure all safety measures during the dismantling process. The LDA said it will conduct another inspection after July 25.
