Chennai: Activist Mathur Sathya, who was expelled from the Communist Party of India following sexual harassment allegations, was arrested by Greater Chennai Police on Thursday.Police sources said he was arrested in Bengaluru by a special team on Thursday evening and is being brought to Chennai for further inquiry.On Mar 16, the Communist Party of India (CPI) removed Sathya from its primary membership and all associated organisations after the allegations surfaced. The party has also submitted a complaint to the Greater Chennai City Police Commissioner seeking legal action in support of the women who made the allegations. South Chennai district secretary S K Siva discussed the allegations at a meeting held on March 14 where they arrived at a decision to expel him. In a statement, Siva said Sathya had been expelled from the party, the All India Youth Federation, and the Indian Society for Cultural Cooperation and Friendship.Sathya, from Salem, participated in protests and grassroots initiatives related to social justice.
