New Delhi: A former BJP councillor and a three-year-old child suffered burn injuries after a fire broke out at a residential building near Chirag Dilli metro station early on Wednesday. According to Delhi Fire Services, a call regarding the blaze was received at 5.44am from Hanuman Road in Chirag Dilli. The building comprises a basement and four floors, with a fifth floor partially constructed. Cops from Malviya Nagar police station and PCR units rushed to the spot. Firefighters also reached the spot with three fire tenders, while ambulances were deployed.Fire officials said the fire broke out among domestic articles on the upper floor of the building and flames spread quickly. The blaze caused significant damage to the floor before emergency teams managed to bring it under control. The injured include Rakesh Gulia (55), a former BJP councillor and resident of the house, and a three-year-old child. Preliminary investigation suggested that the fire may have been triggered by a short circuit, though a detailed probe is underway to ascertain the exact cause. TNN
