Chennai: A former central industrial security force (CISF) constable, who is now employed as a security guard at the Kalpakkam nuclear facility, was arrested after police found an unlicensed gun in his possession, during a vehicle check in Kancheepuram district.Police said Shinde Vikas Nandakumar’s vehicle was stopped by a static surveillance team on election duty on Keelambi Road as part of the Model Code of Conduct for the state elections. During the search, officers found a firearm in Nandakumar’s possession. He was immediately handed over to the Baluchetty Chatram police for further inquiry.Nandakumar told police that he had retired from the CISF, and that he was working at the Kalpakkam nuclear power plant for the past one year. He said he was returning to Kalpakkam after visiting relatives in Bengaluru. He also said the gun licence was not renewed for 10 months.Police arrested him and remanded in judicial custody.
