Nagpur: A 40-year-old accountant allegedly siphoned off 8 lakhs, over a period of nearly two-and-a half years from his employer by misusing funds meant for GST payments.The complainant, Pandurang Sharma, owner of an electrical materials supply shop, has accused Jaganrao Chakpani of criminal breach of trust and cheating.According to police, Chakpani worked as an accountant for Sharma’s business from 2023 till September 2025, handling purchase, sale transactions, and billing work. Sharma has told police that he used to send raw bills to Chakpani via WhatsApp.The accused would prepare final bills and receive money from Sharma for GST payments. The fraud came to light after Sept 2025 when Sharma reviewed his accounts and GST records. A total of 8 lakhs meant for tax payments was allegedly diverted by accused. Sharma then lodged a complaint with Hudkeshwar police.
