Kanpur: The body of a 50-year-old man was allegedly found on the Yamuna riverbank near Andawa village under Bakewar police station limits in Etawah district on Saturday morning.The deceased was identified as Avinash alias Dinesh Kumar. His wife, Pooja, accused a youth from Paigupura village of killing him and later dumping the body.She alleged that the killing was linked to a piece of land that her husband had sold for Rs 20 lakh about 15 days ago. According to her, the youth came to their house around 11 am on Thursday and took Avinash with him on the pretext of some work.When Avinash did not return by evening and failed to answer phone calls, family members went to the youth’s house, but his relatives told them that he was not at home.Pooja said the youth visited her house on Friday and told her that Avinash would return by evening. She alleged that he took Avinash’s Aadhaar card, PAN card and some clothes, but Avinash never returned.Around 7 am on Saturday, villagers informed the family that a body was lying on the Yamuna riverbank. The family rushed to the spot and identified the body as Avinash’s. Pooja further alleged that the body was dressed in clothes belonging to the youth.On receiving the information, police reached the spot and inspected the scene.Police said the body had been sent for postmortem examination and that the cause of death would be ascertained after the report is received and further investigation is carried out.
