Panaji: As part of the plan to reopen entry and exit points to the new six-lane elevated corridor at Porvorim, the entry near Hotel Neo Majestic was opened on Thursday, allowing vehicles to get onto the flyover. A day earlier, the exit was opened, enabling vehicles coming from Atal Setu to enter the Porvorim service road.The entry has been opened on a trial basis, with a wider approach and a lane created much earlier on the route than on the first day, when a fatal accident occurred. The revised arrangement is intended to give motorists more reaction time and a broader lane to enter the flyover safely.The new entry benefits commuters coming from Panaji, as well as residents of Betim, Verem, Reis Magos, parts of Pilerne, and Porvorim, who can now access the corridor to travel towards Guirim, Mapusa, Mopa airport, and other destinations. More entries on the Guirim side are set to open shortly in a phased manner.From Wednesday, traffic police personnel were seen monitoring vehicular movement and vehicle speeds using devices. However, signage along the route has not yet been erected, and some motorists were seen getting confused, prompting traffic police to redirect vehicles that strayed towards the exit ahead. Officials said signage and monitoring cameras will be installed over the next seven days.Rumblers have also been installed at the Neo Majestic-end exit to slow vehicles and improve safety.
