Patna: Patna high court on Thursday sought a detailed action-taken report from the state govt on unauthorised structures and security concerns around the Bihar Judicial Academy at Gaighat, expressing displeasure over recurring encroachments in the area.Hearing a PIL filed by the academy, a division bench of acting chief justice Sudhir Singh and justice Rajesh Kumar Verma questioned the effectiveness of the police, district administration and Patna Municipal Corporation in tackling the long-standing problem.Pulling up the authorities, the bench remarked, “You have created the devil and now you run after it.”Appearing for the state, additional advocate general P K Verma informed the court that all illegal temporary structures had been removed. He said a dedicated police outpost had been set up near the academy’s northern gate, with a station house officer made responsible for preventing fresh encroachments. The SHO would be held accountable for any lapse, he added.The bench also reviewed measures to improve the academy’s surroundings and directed civic and state authorities to coordinate with the forest department’s park division to develop green patches, undertake landscaping and erect secure fencing along the northern boundary and front of the campus.The matter will next be heard on Aug 27.
