Madikeri: Foresters in Kodagu Friday rescued an elephant a day after it killed a coffee grower at Siddapur village in the district.Deputy conservator of forests (Virajpet) Jagannath said more than 100 foresters began the operation from Ammathi after receiving information that the tusker was roaming in the Craigmore estate at Hundi village. With the help of tamed jumbos, the team surrounded and rescued it, he stated.The elephant will be shifted to Anechowkuru elephant camp in Nagarahole tiger reserve for treatment, after which the department will decide on moving it to an elephant-specific camp, the DCF said.Chief conservator of forests (Kodagu) Sonal Vrishni and DCF (Madikeri) Abhishek were present during the capture operation.
