Bhubaneswar: A new scheme for providing education to girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangal Yojana’, was announced by chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi in the state budget on Friday.“One of the visions of our govt under women’s empowerment is to see every girl child complete graduation. Under this new scheme, the govt will assist economically disadvantaged girls to pursue higher education,” he said.A savings instrument of Rs 20,000 will be created by the govt in the name of every girl child born in an economically weak family. After completing graduation, she will be provided Rs 1,01,000.
