Vadodara: A dumper driver was killed and more than 15 passengers were injured when a Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) bus collided head-on with a dumper near Paniya village, close to Eral in Kaalol taluka of Panchmahal district, on Saturday morning.The accident occurred around 9am on the Vejalpur-Ghoghamba road near Paniya village. According to an FIR registered at Vejalpur police station, the GSRTC bus (GJ-18-Z-7612) collided head-on with a dumper (GJ-01-DX-1305).The dumper driver died on the spot in the impact. Several passengers travelling in the bus, including the conductor, sustained injuries and were shifted to Godhra Civil Hospital for treatment.According to the complaint, the dumper was carrying crushed stone and was allegedly being driven at high speed when it came towards the bus and collided with it. The bus driver reportedly attempted to move the vehicle towards the roadside following the collision.Local residents rushed to the spot after hearing about the accident and helped evacuate the injured passengers from the bus before ambulances arrived.Police and GSRTC officials reached the spot after being alerted about the crash. Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the head-on collision.
