Ghaziabad: A fire broke out in a flat of the multi-storey Aditya Mega City residential complex in Indirapuram on Saturday. No casualties were reported in the incident but furniture in the flat was burnt. The flat’s owners are one Mohit Goyal and his family. All of them left the flat as soon as the fire started, an officer said.Preliminary probe suggests the blaze was triggered by a short circuit in an AC unit in the flat.According to chief fire officer Rahul Pal, the fire started around 2 pm in the afternoon. When a team from the fire department reached the spot, they saw dense, toxic smoke had spread through the tower. Officers found the fire had started in a fifth-floor flat of the tower. Maintenance staff of the residential complex had already attempted to control the fire at the initial stage. However, the intensity of the blaze and the resulting smoke had prevented them from completely extinguishing it.The coordinated efforts of the fire crew and the building maintenance staff helped bring the blaze under control within a short period and prevented it from spreading to other flats in the tower. Fire officers said the building’s automatic firefighting system played an important role in containing the fire. The fire department said a detailed assessment of the damage and other necessary formalities are being carried out.
