Dumka: Two bike-borne criminals opened fire on Santhal Pargana Mazdoor Motor Sangh’s divisional president and local agent of a vernacular daily, Arun Singh, near the DIG’s office here on Tuesday morning.The incident occurred around 6 am within limits of the town police station. As Singh headed from his Gilan Pada-based residence towards the bus stand, the assailants approached from behind on a motorcycle and fired two shots at him.One of the bullets struck below his neck, leaving him critically injured, following which he collapsed on the road.The attackers fled the scene. Locals took the wounded to Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital from where he was referred to a higher health centre for better treatment.“Attempts are on to identify the attackers,” the district superintendent of police said.
