Indore: Even as the Class 10 and 12 board examinations continue across Madhya Pradesh, preparations for the next crucial phase gathered pace. The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) is set to begin central monitoring of answer sheet evaluation through a dedicated mobile app in the coming days.
More than 16 lakh students are currently appearing for the examinations across the state. For them, the period after the last paper often brings anxious anticipation about results. The board officials say the introduction of the app is aimed at ensuring that once evaluation begins on a full scale, the process remains uniform, accountable, and timely.
The officials said the app will record teachers’ attendance at evaluation centres, the number of hours spent on duty, and the number of answer sheets checked each day. Senior authorities will be able to monitor progress centre-wise, helping identify delays or irregularities at an early stage.
MPBSE chief systems officer Bhupesh Gupta told TOI that the existing web-based monitoring system, which was introduced last year, will soon be replaced. “In place of the web-based monitoring system, we will be introducing the app for real-time monitoring of evaluation work. The teachers’ attendance and the number of copies checked each day will be recorded through this app. We are planning to introduce this app in the coming days of evaluation work,” he said.
In previous years, complaints surfaced that some teachers either skipped evaluation duty or did not complete the required working hours at centres. Officials said such instances will now be monitored through the app, which will maintain a daily digital record of attendance and work output.
Evaluation work commenced on Sunday across the state, with more than 35,000 teachers assigned to assess answer sheets. For the moment, monitoring is being carried out through last year’s portal, and the shift to the app will take place shortly. Evaluators were introduced to the new app during recent training sessions held ahead of the assessment process, where they were briefed on its features and reporting mechanism.
Officials maintained that the move will strengthen supervision and reduce reporting gaps during evaluation. With lakhs of students still appearing for their exams, the Board’s effort is to ensure that once the writing ends, the checking process proceeds in an organised and closely monitored manner, paving the way for timely declaration of results.
Last year, the board introduced an app to monitor the movement of examination material, from police stations to centres, track the sealing of mobile phones, and ensure the presence of centre heads and invigilators.
