Kanpur: A 75-year-old woman died after her son allegedly attacked her in an intoxicated state in Gureh village in the rural Kotwali area of Banda district on Sunday night.The woman was identified as Ramrati, wife of Munwa. Police said the accused, Pappu alias Radhacharan, fled after the incident but was later nabbed from the village with the help of villagers.According to the account provided, Ramrati was sitting outside her house when Pappu reached home in an intoxicated state and began demanding money from his sister Gudiya to drink more alcohol. When he did not get money, he allegedly started misbehaving and scuffling with her. Seeing the quarrel, Ramrati came there to counsel her son.Gudiya alleged that Pappu, angered by the intervention, smashed his mother head-first onto the ground. Subsquently, Ramrati died on the spot.When Munwa, who had gone out of the house at the time, returned, the children informed him about the incident, following which villagers informed the police. The rural Kotwali in-charge, Chandraprakash Tiwari, reached the spot and carried out investigation and questioning. A police and forensic team gathered evidence from the spot, and police took custody of the body.Superintendent of Police (SP) Palash Bansal said that a murder FIR has been registered against the accused son on the complaint of father Munwa. “The police have nabbed the accused Pappu from the village with the help of the villagers. He is being questioned,” SP saud further.
