Hyderabad: A 27-year-old auto driver was allegedly stabbed and bludgeoned to death by his younger brother during a drunken altercation at their house in Miyapur on Tuesday night, police said. The accused was arrested and remanded in judicial custody on Wednesday. The deceased, Raju, was an auto driver residing in Miyapur. He lived with his two brothers and their mother Sunkamma. According to police, Raju returned home around 7.15 pm in an inebriated condition and picked up an argument with his youngest brother, Guru Swamy, a school bus driver, over a trivial issue. “Enraged, Guru Swamy picked up scissors and stabbed Raju in the neck. As Raju collapsed on the floor, Guru Swamy picked up a boulder from outside and smashed it on Raju’s head, killing him on the spot,” KPHB ACP E Ravi Kiran Reddy said.Alerted by local residents, Miyapur police rushed to the scene and shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem examination. The accused fled immediately after the incident, but a police team tracked him down and apprehended him near his house later that night. A case of murder was registered under section 103(1) of the BNS based on a complaint lodged by Sunkamma. Guru Swamy was produced before a court on Wednesday.
