Kanpur: A bus driver was killed and 19 people, including the conductor, were injured after a passenger bus rammed into a parked dumper on the Lucknow-Kanpur Highway in Unnao district early Sunday.The crash occurred near Chandigarh University under Ajgain Kotwali limits.According to police, the dumper driver had allegedly parked the vehicle on the roadside and gone to a nearby dhaba for a meal when the bus crashed into it from behind.After being alerted, police reached the spot and rushed the injured to the Community Health Centre. Doctors declared the bus driver, Devi Prasad (35), dead. His body was sent for postmortem examination, police said.Two critically injured passengers, Rasheed (24) and Dinesh (48), were referred to the district hospital for further treatment.The remaining 17 injured passengers were administered first aid and later sent onward in another bus.Ajgain inspector Suresh Singh said both vehicles had been seized and an investigation was underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the crash.
