Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology has appointed Dr Sachin Gulati as Chief Alumni Engagement Officer and Head of Corporate Engagement, bringing alumni relations and corporate engagement under his remit.
Gulati announced his appointment through a social media post, saying he was looking forward to working with colleagues at the institution and contributing to its legacy of more than 70 years.
The appointment comes as higher education institutions increasingly engage with alumni and industry stakeholders to strengthen institutional relationships and build connections beyond their campuses. Alumni networks can serve as channels for mentoring, professional networking and institutional outreach, while corporate engagement can help universities connect with employers and industry leaders.
However, Thapar Institute has not announced specific initiatives or priorities linked to Gulati’s appointment, and details of his immediate agenda in the role were not available in the announcement.
In his post, Gulati also referred to the institute’s recent recognition as ‘University of the Year’ at the FICCI Higher Education Awards. He said he was excited to begin the next phase of his professional journey at the institution and work with colleagues as it builds on its seven-decade legacy.
The appointment combines two institutional functions: engaging with the institute’s alumni community and managing corporate engagement. Further details on the institute’s plans for these areas, including any new programmes or partnerships under Gulati’s leadership, are awaited.
