Ranchi: Avni Kejriwal of Delhi Public School (DPS), Ranchi, emerged as the national topper in the commerce stream of the CBSE Class 12 board examinations following the declaration of re-evaluation results on Sunday. Avni achieved a flawless 100%, securing a perfect score of 500 out of 500.When the results were initially declared in May, Avni scored a perfect 100 in Accountancy, Economics and Applied Mathematics. However, her scorecard reflected 81 in English and 95 in Business Studies, bringing her aggregate to 95.2%. Dissatisfied with the outcome, she opted for the re-evaluation.Speaking to TOI, Avni said, “English has always been my strongest suit and my favourite subject. I simply could not accept such a low score. For Business Studies, I cross-checked my responses with the model answer key published by the CBSE and found no reason for any deduction. That is when I decided to apply for a re-evaluation.”Daughter of city-based businessman Mitesh Kejriwal and homemaker Poonam, Avni aims to forge a career in the business world.“While I am yet to finalise a specific career path, it will definitely be in the field of business and finance. At present, I am exploring undergraduate options in Delhi and Bengaluru to map out my future,” she said.Reflecting on her academic strategy, Avni emphasised that she never measured her preparation by the clock. “I focused on completing the syllabus rather than counting the hours. I maintained a healthy balance between academics and leisure and never believed in isolating myself with books. I continued hanging out with my friends, but in moderation. The definitive key is consistency and smart time management,” she shared.Lauding her achievement, Jaya Chauhan, principal of DPS Ranchi, congratulated the national topper. “Avni’s phenomenal achievement is a moment of immense pride for the entire DPS Ranchi family. Her success reflects not only her extraordinary dedication and perseverance but also the culture of excellence that our institution strives to foster. I extend my heartiest congratulations to Avni, her parents and her teachers for this remarkable accomplishment,” she said.A total of 50,690 students from the state appeared in the CBSE Class XII examination of which 85.01% passed.
