Bokaro: District election officials on Monday rolled out a campaign for distribution of voter slips to the electorate at their doorsteps ahead of the Feb 23 elections to the Chas Municipal Corporation and Phusro Municipal Council.Under the programme, booth level officers (BLOs) will visit households and handing over voter slips directly to the electors. They will also inform the voters about the polling date, location of polling stations, and facilities available at booths to facilitate smooth voting.Bokaro deputy commissioner Ajan Nath Jha asked all the BLOs to ensure all eligible voters get their slips by Feb 19. “Voters do not receive are advised to contact their respective BLOs or register complaints by dialling the Election Commission’s helpline number 1950,” he said.Officials clarified that the voter information slip is not a photo identity card. However, it helps voters easily locate their name in the electoral roll by providing details such as part number and serial number, thereby speeding up the verification process at polling stations.“Polling for the Municipal Election 2026 will be held on February 23. Voters must carry their Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) to cast their vote. In case EPIC is unavailable, any of the 12 alternative photo identity documents, including a passport, driving licence, Aadhaar card, PAN card, MNREGA job card, and others notified by the Election Commission, will be accepted,” said DC.
