Wardha: A doctor and a health worker were allegedly assaulted after being locked inside a primary health centre at Talegaon in Ashti taluka of Wardha district around midnight, police said. A case has been registered against the accused following the incident.According to information received, several persons arrived at the health centre around midnight and accused the medical staff of failing to provide proper treatment to a patient. The argument between the group and the doctor escalated into violence.District health officer Swapnil Bele said, “After receiving information about the assault, I visited the spot and conducted an inquiry. The accused snatched mobile phones, prevented videography, shut the doors of the health centre and assaulted the staff. The incident is highly condemnable.”Medical officer Sanket Ravekar, who was injured in the assault, lodged a complaint with the police. In his complaint, he stated that the accused abused him, assaulted him with fists and kicks and issued death threats.Police have registered an offence against four accused in this connection.
