Chennai: A DMK functionary was injured after three unidentified youngsters attacked him with knives near his house in Tondiarpet on Sunday.The victim, Raja, 46, deputy secretary of a DMK ward in Netaji Nagar near Tondiarpet was standing near his house and chatting with his neighbour Ganesh, when the attack took place, police said.Three men arrived at the spot on a two-wheeler and repeatedly hacked Raja with knives before fleeing. Residents alerted the police and Raja was taken to Govt Stanley Hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit.Preliminary investigation revealed that the attack stemmed from previous enmity. The RK Nagar police have registered a case and are searching for the assailants.
