Patna: District magistrate Thiyagarajan S M chaired a meeting on Saturday to review measures to tackle traffic congestion and encroachment in the city. The administration directed officials to conduct anti-encroachment drives on Nehru Path, Gandhi Maidan, and Ashok Rajpath.He instructed teams to strictly enforce one-way rules, close unnecessary road cuts, and expedite the installation of escalator-equipped foot-over-bridges. The integrated traffic management system, equipped with 3,300 cameras, will be used for surveillance and issuing penalties.Regulations will focus on controlling e-rickshaw movement, curbing illegal parking, and checking overspeeding. The DM also stressed inter-departmental coordination to integrate Patna Metro services and expand CNG-based transport.Priority tasks include creating vending zones, widening key roads, and marking zebra crossings. The administration reiterated its zero-tolerance approach to violations to ensure public safety and improve urban mobility.
