Four individuals were sentenced to life imprisonment for a murder that occurred 19 years ago in Saran district. Each defendant was fined Rs 25,000, with an additional six months imprisonment for non-payment. Police hailed the verdict as a milestone in expediting serious-crime trials and reaffirmed their commitment to delivering swift justice.

Patna: Four accused in a 19-year-old murder case in Saran district were sentenced to life imprisonment on Saturday. Additional district and sessions judge-12, Anjani Kumar Gond, also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on each convict. Police termed the verdict a significant success in expediting justice in serious crimes.The convicts — Ravindra Singh, Vijay Singh, Subash Singh and Guddu Singh — were found guilty under Section 302/149 IPC.The court ordered life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 25,000 for each convict. In case of non-payment of the fine, they will undergo an additional 6 months’ imprisonment. Police had prioritised the case as part of efforts to fast-track trials in serious criminal cases.The prosecution examined 6 witnesses, including doctors and investigating officers. Public prosecutor Vimal Chandra Singh argued the case effectively, resulting in the conviction.Police said they will continue special drives to ensure swift justice in serious crimes, with the aim of instilling fear of the law among criminals and ensuring justice for the public.
