New Delhi: Pankaj Verma, the proprietor of Srijanhar Enterprises who is an accused in the alleged Delhi Jal Board sewage treatment plant tender scam, was Thursday sent to judicial custody till Sept 3 after two days in police custody.The case concerns alleged irregularities in DJB’s tendering process for the augmentation and upgrade of 10 STPs. ACB has alleged that the tender process was manipulated to favour Euroteck Environmental Pvt. Ltd., resulting in undue benefit to the company and loss to the govt exchequer. AAP senior functionary and former minister Satyendar Jain is an accused in the case.During the hearing on Verma, additional public prosecutor Manish Rawat, who appeared for the anti-corruption branch (ACB), said that the accused was “non-cooperative” when asked about the money trail and the recovery of a phone.ACB secured two days’ police custody of Verma on Aug 25. Verma’s custodial interrogation was required to examine the purpose behind incorporating Srijanhar Enterprises, the agreement between Srijanhar and Euroteck, and the claim of a loan extended by Srijanhar to Dhanvine Engineering, ACB said.According to ACB, Srijanhar Enterprises and Dhanvine Engineering, both linked to Verma, were allegedly used to route money from Euroteck.Duty judge Neha Paliwal Sharma issued production warrants for former DJB CEO Udit Prakash Rai and Nagendra Yadav, directing they be produced on Aug 29. Both are in judicial custody.The agency said Yadav was an intermediary for the accused.
