Prayagraj: A whopping number of 6,831 revenue cases pending for more than five years across Prayagraj division will now be taken up on priority, following the directives of the divisional commissioner to bring the number of such cases down to zero at the earliest.Pratapgarh accounts for the highest share with 4,527 such cases, followed by Prayagraj with 2,076, while 225 are pending in Fatehpur and three in Kaushambi.Divisional commissioner Dr M Lokesh has also ordered a tighter system for tracking govt land and revenue disputes, directing every tehsil to maintain updated registers carrying details of govt land, including gata numbers.The directions were issued during a divisional review of revenue cases, record maintenance and functioning of tehsils. In every case, both the parties must be heard, relevant records and facts examined and a fair and reasoned decision taken within the prescribed timeframe.A new format has also been prescribed for compiling details of govt land recorded in current khataunis. Officials have been asked to include pasture land, ponds, chak land and all other properties under govt custody.Special inspections have been ordered in Handia, Koraon and Soraon tehsils of Prayagraj, where a relatively large number of revenue cases are pending. In Kaushambi, Chail and Sirathu tehsils will also undergo special inspections.The administration has set a deadline for inspections, asking every ADM to conduct a detailed inspection of at least one tehsil by Aug 30.Pending audit cases will also be targeted through a special drive from Aug 24 to 27. Officials have been asked to dispose of at least 50% of the pending cases within a week and, wherever possible, clear all of them.
