Kanpur: An elderly woman in Kidwai Nagar fell victim to cyber fraud and loses Rs 21 lakh in the name of digital arrest.The fraudster, posing as the Police Commissioner of Mumbai, kept her under digital arrest for six days claiming that she was involved in terrorist activities. He threatened to send her to jail and seal her house and made her transfer Rs 21 lakh to his account.The woman shared her ordeal to an acquaintance and then she realised that she was defrauded. She filed a complaint with the police.Snehlata, a resident of H Block in Kidwai Nagar, said that she lives alone in a rented house. Some time ago she sold her properties in Krishna Nagar and Vikas Sadan in Delhi, and deposited the money in her account, she said. DCP South Deependra Nath Chaudhary said that a case has been registered. “Efforts will be made to recover the money with the help of the Cyber Cell,” the DCP said.
