Kanpur: A 12-year-old boy died after drowning in the Ganga in Manohar Nagar under the Jajmau police station area in Kanpur on Wednesday afternoon. His two companions fled the spot and did not inform the youth’s family, police said. When he did not return, his mother went to his friends to inquire. On Thursday, on being questioned again strictly, one of them told the family about incident.Jajmau police reached the spot and recovered the body after three hours of effort with the help of divers. The body was sent for postmortem.The boy’s aunt said that he left in afternoon in the name of giving clothes to a friend. The mother blamed the friends for hiding the fact. tnn
