Officials at Dhubri port said inauguration of these facilities would not only enhance the importance of this port, but also strengthen the trade network. It would significantly reduce the logistics cost for transportation of goods in the northeast.“This initiative aims to streamline cross-border trade, improved cargo movements, and also facilitate passenger travel through the Indo-Bangladesh Protocol Route”, officials added.Talking to TOI, Dhubri-Gauripur Development Authority chairman Dipak Kumar Saha said the centre, which has been a long-standing demand, would restart trade and business through the Dhubri River Port, which was halted after the Indo-Pak War in 1965.“With these facilities available here, trade will witness a regional and international impact. Moreover, India’s first Multi-Model Logistics Park at Jogighopa River Port will be connected with the Dhubri River Port, creating a far-reaching affect on trade and business in this region and beyond the border”, Saha added.
